My torture

I don't know what is worse anymore - Jia Wen refusing to keep her toys, Jia Wen whining the whole day, Jia Wen refusing to eat, Jia Wen taking off her pyjamas and diaper and play her own SHIT, or pouring out a whole bottle of talcum powder and playing with it. Sighs.

These are just a few things Jia Wen tries to torture me with everyday and today, she did the talcum powder trick! She was upstairs with her dad with I had to go down to answer a phone call. While I was on the phone, I heard Shien Wei say "Jia Wen, mummy is going to kill you!". I ran up and found powder all over her body and it slowly sinked into me that she had finished pouring the whole bottle out and it is all over her hall upstairs! Shien Wei quickly grabbed the camera and took pictures of evidence.

I tell you, I surprise myself sometimes - I did not kill her, neither did I shout at her! Again, I was pretty calm about it and cooly went back down and got the vacum cleaner to suck the powder out. Shien Wei had to take the lego set along with some other toys to go rinse the powder off. Its all drying outside. As for Jia Wen, she shows no remorse and it's like the incident never happened.

I think my daughter is killing me softly.

A nice family picture with a kangaroo and Caversham Wildlife Park. Posted by Picasa

G'day Mate

At our last day of our short short holiday in Perth. We arrived here on Saturday and leaving this afternoon. It has been a short holiday but a good one. We have been staying with my cousin Lisa in Dianella whose house is very cosy and retro. She's got a very retro kitchen with 70's tiles and colours.

On Sunday, we went to Freemantle Market in Freemantle and I had the most delicious corn on a cob I have ever had. I am still dreaming about it. I don't know whether it was the corn itself or was it the sauce I chose to put on it but it was absolutely divine in a non-chocolaty way.

Oh yes, at night we went to this pub called Elephant & Wheel Barrow to watch England play Equador with Lisa and a friend Steve. It was almost a boring match until Beckham put in a beautiful goal. Of course the Australians here rooting for the English to win and luckily the did.

Yesterday we went Caversham Wildlife Park where there were kangaroos, koala bears and many other kinds animals. We got really up close and personal with kangaroos where we got to feed them and pat them. Jia Wen had fun feeding the kangaroos. We also saw the wombat, wallabies and koalas where I think that's as close as we can get to them. We didn't get to carry them but we got to stand right next to them and pat them too.

After Caversham, we went to a mall for lunch and bought some stuff from there. We stayed home to watch football. It was the Socceroos against the Italians and it ended tragically. The Australian team were given an unfair finish and it wasn't a nice way to lose such an important game. Let's see whether the phrase "what goes around comes around" will come into play in the next round.

Anyway, here we are lazing in Lisa's house waiting to go to the airport. Can't wait to go home actually simply because Jia Wen hasn't been anywhere near an angel. She has been cranky and naughty. At this moment, she's banned from going for any holidays with us.

Thank you Lisa and Jessica for putting us up and putting up with my whiny daughter.

Will put up pics when I get back to my desk at home.

Here are the gifts I received for my birthday... so far. wink wink. Posted by Picasa

29

Turning 29 yesterday wasn't too bad. Although it was a normal day for me but it surely wasn't that normal a birthday. I guess it all started with my husband buying me a new handphone 2 weeks back since my old phone died of "not so" natural causes.

On Friday, I received a bouquet of roses all the way from Labuan! My friend Dewi sent me a bouquet of flowers! It has been quite a while since I have received flowers so it was very nice.

On Saturday, another "bigger" present arrived. A brand new Honda City! So we went to pick it up in Melaka. Although it didn't come with a huge red ribbon on the top of the car, it was still a very nice birthday present, don't you all agree?

And if you think that's the end of it? Nope, guess what's coming up? A trip to Perth! Wooohooo.. Shien Wei, Jia Wen and I are taking a trip to Perth very soon.

Hahahah... Sounds like a superb birthday isn't it? Hahahah.. actually the real birthday gift was only the phone lah... I just tied everything up to make it sound like it is in celebration of my birthday. Hahahah... We ordered the Honda City about 2+ months back and it happened to arrive the day before my birthday. And the trip to Perth more or less was a last minute plan as Shien Wei had to finish his leave and use up our FOC tickets before month end. So, if you think about it, my birthday no big deal lah. I am just making it sound big. Naughty naughty!

Happy birthday to me!

Pics will be up later.

Centre of attention. Posted by Picasa

My Brave Girl

Yesterday we went to 1 Utama for a stroll and there happened to have a promotional roadshow for Chipsmore at their new centre court. With all the noise and "hoo-ha", Jia Wen was immediately drawn to the crowd. They had some games and small giveaways.

While we were there, there was a clown show and Jia Wen went to join the group of kids sitting in front of the stage where the clown was performing. The clown did some magic tricks which required some kid-volunteers and guess what? Jia Wen put her hand up (you think?) and she was picked to go up the stage and be his "assistant". So Jia Wen went up and stood there not really knowing what for and became, well the centre of attention. It was a minor trick that the clown did with her that required her to hold a small ball in her hands and made it disapppear. I don't think Jia Wen even realized what happened those moments but anyway, thanks to my husband's generosity I had with me my brand new handphone - Sony Ericsson Z520i, I managed to take some shots of Jia Wen on the stage looking very blur but brave.

Well, she got a balloon poodle and a couple of chipsmore keychains for being so brave. My girl!

Woohooo, I got a new phone!
