I am here in Starbucks blogging! I am here without Jia Xiang. I am not being mean but I am feel so FREE without Jia Xiang. Woo hoo!!

Where's Jia Xiang? Jia Xiang is in Labuan with my mum. Why? Shien Wei and I are having a short mini holiday with Jia Wen. Yesterday we came back from Genting after spending a night there. Just 2D1N in Genting with Jia Wen nearly killed us lah! I tell you, kids just have the most energy! OK, we arrived at Genting at noon on Sunday and we played and played and played all day long till nearly midnight. Imagine how tired Shien Wei and I were by midnight? But was Jia Wen tired? Yes she was but did she stop for one minute? Nope she didn't man! She was full of energy running from one ride to another and some rides over and over again and again! Well at least I know that my daughter is a thrill seeker like her mum. Must be the bungy effect she got when she was in my tummy!

There are plenty of pictures that I have to show you all but I don't have the time to do it now so you'll have to wait I think at least until after we come back from Singapore.

Yes we are going to Singapore tomorrow and yes with Jia Wen also! So I think after Singapore, i will need another holiday to recuperate. I tell you that girl has so much energy theres no stopping. Of course we have drawn out a rough plan of what we'll do with her there, just the thought of it is exhausting!

Theres still so much for me to blog about so just stay tuned ok? I promise I won't be away for too long. I can't wait to show you videos of Jia Wen on the bumper car where she went spinning round and round in circles! So funny! And for once, she was so willing to take pictures and smiled at every snap! I'll tell you all about the week I have had and you tell me whether it was exhausting or not! I think just reading about it you'll feel tired!

This was how my kids fell asleep this afternoon. First Jia Wen fell asleep on the couch (exactly like the picture) while Jia Xiang was on the floor playing, then he also fell asleep.

Movie Alone

Today I went to watch Pirates Of The Carribean, At Worlds End... ALONE!

It has been more than 10 years since I've watched a movie ALONE and it sucks! I was desperately looking for a partner to go with but since it was a last minute thing, I couldn't get anyone to go with me. (didn't exactly call everyone in my phonebook lah)

Why alone? Well you see with two kids, it is impossible to go catch a movie together anymore. So Shien Wei went to watch it on his own 2 weeks ago and I have been waiting since then. But today, I got the opportunity to do so. My mother-in-law came back from 1 month in China and I could drop the kids off in Puchong and so I went to the cinema! I guess my desire to watch the movie was stronger than not wanting to watch it alone (did I just make any sense there?)

Oh well, sitting alone with no one that you know next to you just sucks. When oh when will I get to watch a movie with Shien Wei again?!? Sad uh?!

BTW - Johnny Depp aka Captain Jack Sparrow Rocks! He was really really really... really good!

Jia Xiang is 6 Months

Yay! 6 months old! Jia Xiang is 6 months old! Yahoo!! Why am I so happy? Well I guess 6 months is a marker to a beginning of a new stage in his baby life but I also know that it is also a start of "chasing after Jia Xiang" stage. Crawling, walking, climbing? Oh no!

I know I am near that dreadful stage because Jia Xiang has already started rolling all over the floor. He pulls or pushes himself around with his arms and rolls over here and there to get from point A to point B. He is pretty fast at moving about now. He is also learning to crawl. He can position himself to crawling position - on all fours but yet to figure out how to move and how to coordinate. He will be on all fours and then will rock back and forth back and forth. Very cute. Take out the safety gates!

Today, Jia Xiang got his first taste of cereal (extra chore for me in the mornings now). I gave him a little today. He seemed to have enjoyed it. He was very impatient and kept pulling my finger towards his mouth so that the spoon stayes in his mouth! See lah my son - "thum chiak"!

While he seems to be a happy baby - always smiling for the camera and all, he still likes to be carried and loves my attention. He is getting heavier by the minute but thankfully he spends quite a bit more time on the floor these days playing with his toys and rolling all over. So I don't have to carry him as much these days. Of course when I do need to carry him, my back hurts quite bad. I think it is made worse with his weight. Sighs.

Jia Xiang still hates the stroller so I am still carrying him in the sarong / sling when I go out shopping with him. I odn't know how long more can the sarong hold him as he is getting quite heavy. Perhaps when he learns to sit up, he might enjoy the stroller better. I HOPE!

Ferberzing Jia Xiang is going quite well and seperating the kids, so far has been alright. Jia Wen has been sleeping on her own for a few days now and Jia Xiang has been in his own room too. He does cry but his cries are getting shorter. So hopefully (down on my knees praying) things will be better now especially for my sleep.

Ferberizing Jia Xiang

The past few nights (about 1 week now), Jia Xiang has been very difficult at nights. He hasn't been sleeping well not because he is not well or hungry but I think he's just being naughty. He wants to be carried to sleep.

The last few nights, he woke up about every hour of the night wanting to be carried. The moment I pick him up, he'll sleep on my shoulder but the moment I put him down, he'll start to cry. And the worse thing is that he won't even let me sit down! The problem I had was not just that I was exhausted but I had to deal with Jia Wen who will wake up everytime Jia Xiang wakes up. Jia Wen is a very light sleeper and if I let Jia Xiang cry a little longer, Jia Wen will wake up and has difficulty going back to sleep. Sometimes she won't even go back to sleep and end up "playing" in her room, building fort with pillows! Haiyo..its a never ending problem uh?

Jia Wen has been having sleep problems for about 1 year now (something to do with the sibling rivalry issue?). There was a time where she slept at the door by the gate, there was a night where she climbed out of her room, there was a time where she slept with us in our room. Remember all those? Well, since February, 14th to be exact she went back to her room and we used Jia Xiang to keep her there. We told her that Jia Xiang needed company and we managed to con her back into her room. She's been in her room, with Jia Xiang since February. Although she is still wakeful most nights but at least she's out of our room. I have been taking her back to her room sometimes several times a night since February and run to her room everytime she wakes up crying fearing that she might wake Jia Xiang up.

With all these problems, Shien Wei and I have decided that we need to solve Jia Xiang's sleep problems by first seperating the kids and ferberize Jia Xiang. Jia Xiang needs to learn how to fall asleep on his own and not rely on me carrying him to sleep. So ferberizing starts tonight. Moved Jia Xiang's cot to the other room and spent the whole day psycho-ing Jia Wen to sleep alone.. telling her that baby has been naughty and always wake her up so need to put Jia Xiang in the other room so that he won't wake him up, etc.

So so far, Jia Wen is sleeping in her room (although I foresee that she'll wake up giving me all the reasons to stay awake - like where's "didi", "I'm alone, I'm scared", etc but I am keeping my fingers crossed! I left Jia Xiang in his "new" room. He cried for 15 minutes. Not too bad yah? Hopefully this "training" will not take too long and his sleep problems will go away and maybe (just maybe) a miracle will happen soon enough (for my sanity) - my kids will sleep through the nights - BOTH of them! Like I said - a miracle!
