Princess Jia Wen

There's something you must know about Jia Wen these days. She's going through a "Princess" phase and trust me if I allow it - she'll be sitting on a throne somewhere all dressed up, all glittered up! Heck, she'll probably be better than any real princesses out there. She even has a book on "How to be a princess 101"!

She wants everything princess. She wants to have gowns and when she goes shopping these days, I find that she's browsing more in the clothing section than the toy or book sections. She loves looking at the dresses, gowns ... well anything that is long and frilly! Of course she'll ask to buy but so far there has only been one very difficult situation where she really really wanted a dress and that got everyone in the family involved (long story).

Everyday when she's at home, she'll dress herself up with whatever she can find be it a couple of white cloth nappies or something that she can imagine it to be a gown. She's got the pink play princess skirt that she wears everyday without fail and with that she'll either put a nappy around her neck as a princess cape or she'll somehow extend the length of the skirt so that it sweeps the floor! She'll do lah something with the few pieces of cloth and knacks that she has. 2 days ago, my mum sent a skirt she made specially for Jia Wen and JW has been wearing it for 2 days only taking it out when bathing! It's a long white skirt that flares up high when she twirls. She absolutely loves the skirt. Sadly she didn't pay attention to the details of the skirt i.e little strawberries around the skirt and some lace but she's in awe of the length and how flared it can be when she twirls!!
I don't really want this to turn into to full-blown "HRH Princess Jia Wen" extravaganza, but it is rather interesting and fascinating to see her go through this phase which my mum swears my sister and I went through too. I surely do not have any recollection of such a girlie phase in my life! A few days ago, I bought her a set of play rings and necklaces which she really likes and she has been prancing around with them.

I know it is rather hard to imagine Jia Wen being princess like seeing how "un-ladylike" her mother is but I am glad that she isn't going around pretending to be "Power Rangers" or some "Ben10" character and going "haiyak-ing" everywhere. I certainly didn't do "haiyak-ing" when I was little! But I never imagined that my own daughter will go through this girlie phase because I am a very practical, simple mother who doesn't like cumbersome dresses and accessories so I am certainly not the influencer or this "phase". Should I embrace this phase? Surely it'll pass right? Is this a phase where all girls go through at least once in their lifetime?

Well I guess I shouldn't shut this phase down on her. I give you HRH Princess Jia Wen.

I didn't know Iranians loves KFC as well. There were a big group of Iranians in the same KFC as we were having lunch (Jalan Ampang) and they were facinated by the children playing around that they took photos of them.

Thanks to An & Lee, we now have a beautiful family photo. It wasn't easy for the photographers to get JW&JX to look at the camera and smile at the same time but I am happy with how these photos turned out (at least I look good).
(if you want beautiful shots like these, call me)

JW's Concert & Prize Giving

JW's Concert & Prize Giving

Jia Wen had her school concert & prize giving last Saturday and of course we were all there to watch her perform and receive her prizes.
Getting ready and putting on make up were the main highlights for the girls. Jia Wen was so excited about putting on make up more than anything else!! Putting on the make up for the kids was quite hilarious. It was like a factory producing dolls. The kids lined up to go through several processes (teachers) - moisturiser (lotion lah), foundation (compac powder lah), blusher, eye shadow and finally lipstick. And after the lipstick, all the kids didn't dare drink water or do anything evasive to ruin the make up!!

This trophy is for getting first place in class

Jia Wen received 4 trophies for her academic performance throughout the year

These girls sang (more like screamed) 2 chinese songs

Jia Wen's "Pai Lang Tau Tau" song dance

It is supposed to be a song on fishermen

Final song performance by all the kids
